Got Worms?Got Worms?

In heavily wooded areas it can be tough to find a view to paint. But with any problem, there is a solution. So I went out Saturday with my brother Matt to the Coosa River in Hokes Bluff, Alabama in his fishing boat. Even to go out with him, I am required by Alabama law to have a fishing license. So armed with my fishin' license as well as my artistic license, my plan was for him to let me out somewhere while he goes off fishing for a few hours. However, the banks were either overgrown or on private property. So we found a good spot where he thought he could catch some fish and I set my easel up in the boat and painted from there. We went in the afternoon, so there weren't many people fishing on the river when we were there. There weren't any other painters, either. Maybe we'll run into a few next time.

I grew up on that river, and

I grew up on that river, and I have to say, I have never seen anyone paint in a bass boat. You rock! Also, I note that you failed to actually paint any fish, so the fishing must still be lousy on the Coosa. Or perhaps, you DID paint a fish, and then released him - maybe some other guy will catch that painted fish.

Glad you are trying

Glad you are trying watercolor and inks but I still love your landscapes in oil. Painting in a boat while sitting on water.....way to go!
I took my sketch book to jury duty; I had "free models" sitting everywhere in numerous slouched poses. They were bored stiff and I wanted more time to be able to catch all the poses.

Nicely done. Shocked there

Nicely done. Shocked there weren't more artist out on boats that day. Must not have gotten the message about the great weather and views.
