Drawing with DorianDrawing with Dorian

dorsept.jpgLast Thursday, I had a chance to visit my buddy Dorian Vallejo. As luck would have it, he happened to have a model scheduled and I got to draw with him. It was way too short of a visit, but it was still great to catch up with him and Liana. I played around with some colored pencils of his and this is the drawing I did.

He shared with me the drawings he is putting in a book of his. They were really amazing and going through such a collection was very inspiring. I'll make sure to do a blog entry as soon as he has the book available. If you like figure drawings, it will be a must have.

dorian's book, figures

Please do share when Dorian's book is available - great to know he's got something in the works. I found his work through your blog many moons ago and it's great stuff.

This is a great sketch - now that the weather is going to be getting cold again, will that put a crimp on your outdoor work and drive you indoor with models again?

Lately travel and moving put

Lately travel and moving put a crimp on all my painting, and I have the Telephone Factory Art Show coming up in December which will take some time. Otherwise, I hope not to lose too much outdoor painting. I like winter painting almost as much as summer. For one, you don't have to worry about snakes, bugs and bears. Although, it can be tough to find a subject when all the trees look like sticks.
Seeing Dorian did make me want to do more figure work again. We'll see what happens in the next few months.
Thanks for the comment. I had a problem with the approval queue, so it took me a while to respond. I encourage you to sign up for the newsletter and/or set up an account. I appreciate you visiting my site!
